American Airlines Logo Redesign

American Airlines Complete Redesign

After 45 years, American Airlines have decided to redesign their logo and present a more modern, streamlined look for their planes to show their customers that the outside of their aircraft will be as person centred and iconic as the inside. The airline has said that this is the first fleet-wide rebranding since the year 1968.

History of American Airlines

Design Boom has created a timeline that presents the evolution of American Airlines logo. Beginning with the first logo created in 1934, we can see the successful progression of the simplified, modern logo that we know today. The last logo, designed by Massimo Vignelli in 1968 has been the iconic core image of the company for 45 years. There is a lot of debate surrounding whether or not American Airlines have made a successful step forward when it comes to their latest logo re-design. However, the new logo is said to be elegant, professional and iconic.
